Neurontin (Gabapentin)

It is the best way to treat seizures which are associated with epilepsy. However Neurontin can cure nerve pain which is the result herpes zoster infection. There are several conditions when you can use this treatment, however all of them must be determined by the doctor before starting to take the Neurontin.

Follow only prescriptions of the doctor when consuming the drug. Carefully read the label of the drug to find out the right dosage and other necessary instructions.
Consume the drug with the help of mouth. It has no difference if you take it while eating or after the meal.

You are recommended to avoid using antacids which contain aluminum within two hours before using Neurontin.
A sudden stop of using this drug can increase the chance of side effects occurrence. In case you need to consume any other medicine or give up taking Neurotin it should be done by mean of lowering the regular dosage.

Neurontin is an anticonvulsant. The exact way that it works to prevent seizures and nerve pain is unknown.

It is prohibited to use Neurontin in the following cases:

• Allergic reaction to any of the drug compounds can take place

• in case you are breast feeding, awaiting for the birth of your baby or planning to become pregnant
• in case you are allergic to different types of drugs, food or any other substances
• in case you suffer from problems connected with kidney
• in case you suffered from any mental diseases or have ever tried to commit a suicide

• Morphine as it can lead to the risk of Neurontin\'s side effects, including drowsiness

Unfortunately there is no such drug which is not followed by several side effects. Neurontin can also be the reason of several health problems. Here is the list of the most coomon side effects of this treatment:

• Back pain; changes in vision (double or blurred vision); clumsiness; constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; nausea; stomach upset; tiredness; vomiting; weight gain.

• Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); abnormal thoughts; aggressive behavior; back and forth eye movements; behavioral problems; change in school performance; chest pain; confusion; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; fever, chills, or sore throat; hyperactivity; loss of coordination; memory loss; mental or mood changes (eg, hostility, mood swings); numbness of an arm or leg; one-sided weakness; restlessness; seizures; severe headache or dizziness; shortness of breath; speech changes; suicidal thoughts or actions; swelling of the hands, legs, or feet; tremor; trouble concentrating; twitching.
